Why would you want to live in an Assisted Living Community
An Assisted living community offers lots of great incentives for your loved one.
If you are unsure of what an Assisted Living Community is please read our previous blog on the difference of Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.
During the day you complete many tasks such as grooming, bathing, toileting, dressing, even eating. These are considered activities of daily living (ADL's). If your loved one is having difficulty completing any of these tasks the Assisted Living (ALF) will have staff that can assist in completing the ADL's. If your family member has difficulty complete these tasks at home. The ALF will assist them in completing the ADL's to avoid exhaustion.

An ALF also offers lots of socializing. While living in ALF if offers you opportunities to eat in a dining room, participate in activities and watch entertainment. The staff encourages residents to participate in activities. It allows the residents to meet new people and participate in current or new hobbies. Items like cards, book club, ice cream social, musicians, and nail salon. These all allow your loved one to meet people and make new friends. This also will help with loneliness and depression.

One of the incentives an ALF also offers are trips. They take residents to stores, fairs, shows and other activities for them to enjoy. This allows the residents to get away, to socialize, and continue to live their life. The ALF also will assist residents in attending doctor appointments so they do not have to worry about transportation and navigating driving, taking the bus or an Uber.

An Assisted Living offers many benefits. It allows your loved one to complete daily tasks, meet new people, complete new activities and participate in trips. An ALF will provide your loved one with the independence to live their life, complete tasks they enjoy and offers assistance as needed.
