How to keep Seniors safe this Summer.

We have compiled a few tips to keep your Senior safe in this summer heat.
As the seasons change its important to watch the forecast and dress accordingly. If you are worried about being cold when you go places outside your home, bring a cardigan or jacket. Something you can put off and on as you get cold or warm would be helpful to not overheat.
Also when outside its important to wear eye protection. Wearing sunglasses or a hat will help to protect your eyes from the sunlight. Wear sunscreen, reapplying throughout the day to protect your skin from sunburns or irritation.
Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Its important to stay hydrated and not get overheated. Also check medications to confirm they do not offer added sensitivity to the sun or the heat.
Try to stay indoors throughout the day and avoid going outside during the hottest parts of the day. Also, utilize air conditioning in the house or in the car. Both places can get warm without air conditioning and it can be hotter inside than outside.
Keep an eye on your seniors, make sure they are staying hydrated and protected from the sun and heat.
